Why was the "ViewNorthPort" website created?
     North Port created this website to increase financial transparency. The information on the website contains data about City revenue and expenditures that is easily searchable and accessible at no cost to the public.

If I have a question about information on the website who do I contact?

How current is the information available?
     The current data runs from October 2011 through present. The database will be updated weekly.

Has the data on the website been audited?
     No. This data is unaudited data. Audited financial data is contained in the City’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).

What information is included in the payroll data that is provided?
     Payroll data is presented for a calendar year and represents the gross amount earned by an employee. It includes all types of compensation. This amount does not include any employee costs paid by the City such as FICA, retirement, and contributions to health insurance.

Can you explain what Fiscal Year means?
     A twelve month period, for which an organization plans the use of its funds, not necessarily coinciding with the calendar year. In the State of Florida, a city's fiscal year begins on October 1st and ends on September 30th. i.e. Fiscal Year 2012 means October 1, 2011 through September 30, 2012.

What is the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR)?
     The CAFR is an annual financial report prepared by the City’s Finance department. The report provides statements of financial condition and operations of the City of North Port in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
